Thomas Hedlund has been a licensed Marriage Family Therapist in Northern California for over thirty five years. The last twenty five years he has been helping individuals, couples and families overcome the devastating impacts of codependency, abuse, trauma and various forms of addictive or compulsive behavior. His specialty is assisting people to recognize and to heal shame as well as change self-defeating and ineffective behavior.
Tom has extensive training with John Bradshaw and his treatment center's clinical director, Kip Flock, LCSW. This rare training in the use of shame reduction techniques and multiple therapies to heal shame enables Tom to assist his clients move rapidly beneath their symptoms and address the survival mechanisms they employed early in life which have become barriers to flexibility and change.
Therapeutic techniques such as EMDR, Re-decision Therapy, Guided Imagery, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodrama, Inner Child Work, Somatic Focusing and Voice Dialogue Therapy are integrated with Cognitive and Behavioral techniques in individual, couples and group therapy to offer clients the greatest option of choices to address their needs.
